Email Studio Configuration Guide

Configure your own email sending settings for campaign delivery

Guides

The Studio section in Lystica allows you to configure your own email sending settings for campaign delivery. This guide will help you set up and use this feature.

Benefits of Using Your Own Email Configuration

  1. Improved Deliverability: Emails sent from your own domain often have better deliverability rates.
  2. Brand Consistency: Recipients see emails coming directly from your email address and name.
  3. Reply Management: Replies will go directly to your actual email inbox.
  4. Control: You have full control over your sending infrastructure.

Setting Up Email Settings

  1. Navigate to Dashboard > Studio > Email Settings
  2. Choose your email provider from the dropdown (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, Zoho, or custom SMTP)
  3. Fill in the required details:
    • SMTP Host: Your provider's SMTP server address
    • SMTP Port: The port used for email delivery (typically 587)
    • SSL/TLS: Whether to use secure connection
    • SMTP Username: Your email login
    • SMTP Password: Your email password or app password
    • From Email: The email address to send from
    • From Name: The name that will appear to recipients

Provider-Specific Instructions

Gmail

  • Host: smtp.gmail.com
  • Port: 587
  • Security: SSL/TLS disabled

Important: You must create an "App Password" in your Google Account security settings if you have 2-step verification enabled. Your regular Gmail password won't work.

Outlook/Office 365

  • Host: smtp.office365.com
  • Port: 587
  • Security: SSL/TLS disabled
  • If you have 2FA enabled, you may need to generate an app password.

Yahoo Mail

  • Host: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
  • Port: 587
  • Security: SSL/TLS disabled
  • You need to generate an app password in your Yahoo account security settings.

Zoho Mail

  • Host: smtp.zoho.com
  • Port: 587
  • Security: SSL/TLS disabled
  • Use your Zoho Mail email and password.

Custom SMTP

Enter the SMTP details provided by your email service provider.

Verification Process

After saving your settings, you need to verify them by sending a test email:

  1. Go to the "Test & Verify" tab
  2. Enter the email address where you want to receive the test email
  3. Click "Send Test Email & Verify"
  4. Check your inbox for the verification email
  5. Once verified, your settings will be marked as "Verified" and ready to use

Troubleshooting

If you're having trouble with your email settings:

Authentication Failed

Double-check your username and password. For Gmail and other providers with enhanced security, make sure you're using an app password, not your regular account password.

Connection Timeout

Some networks block email ports. Try using port 587 with secure=false.

Sender Rejected

Make sure your "From Email" is either the same as your SMTP username or is authorized in your email provider's settings.

Sending Limits

Be aware that email providers have daily sending limits. Gmail, for example, has a limit of 500 emails per day.

Security Notes

  • Your email credentials are securely stored and encrypted.
  • For best security practices, consider using app-specific passwords rather than your main account password.
  • You can delete your email configuration at any time from the settings page.
